DiRT is a rally racing game that is in the race to set a standard for games that have yet to hit the shelves. It is made keeping in mind the likes and dislike of racing enthusiasts and makes it a must have.
In terms of visuals, very few games come close to comparing with DiRT. The technical attention that has been lavished upon the cars, tracks and the game environment is surprising. The lighting effects are beautiful, with the cars and rain-lashed roads reflecting sunlight just the right amount. The aspects of a true gaming experience such as menus, customisation options and the audio effects have been thought about in minute detail. The game is not only a work of art but offers some superb racing options. You can choose from six racing disciplines that are equipped with good learning curves, varied traffic and a lot of dirt. The physics of the game may not be believable enough but the arcade feel makes up for it. DiRT offers a number of career options, racing modes and the chance to inflict heavy damage on the vehicles. The multiplayer mode is kind of disappointing, offering only two maps and not much support on the types of disciplines available.
The only flaws that you can see are the slow frame rates and lack of graphical movement or time lag. If you can put this aside with the multiplayer mode, then you have a game that is well worth playing, offering long game play and a good price.
